Across generations woman were
made to believe that they aren’t good enough for various factors ranging from
skintone,body shape etc
All these advertisements
occupies in social media and Tv is indirectly asking us ;How can you like your
body?
Being constantly bombarded
with this stereotypical view of beauty . Many people are falling into the trap
of negative body image and poor self-esteem. This took a toll on my self esteem
too. I started disliking my body when I was experiencing depression.
I am a person who likes
creative expression of self through any artistic mediums such as art, poems, dance
etc. On a middle of a sunny day,I spent my leisure time in self-photography which
helped me to like my body in its own imperfections. When I shared my new found
hobby in creative self photography with one of my friend,I had came to know
about boudoir photography. Its exciting, meaningful and I was thrilled to
experience it professionally.
Posing seminude infront of a male photographer for boudoir shoot was intimidating and neither easy nor hard for me. I gradually felt comfortable with showing my body to another human . ofcourse it takes huge courage and a safe space for me to do this. I deeply felt to do this not only to express myself but its also about breaking the body shame and negative feelings I had with certain parts of my body.
What is Boudoir ?
In French ,the word boudoir
refers to a women’s private dressing room.Boudoir photography is a concept
which encompasses the artistic and intimate elements of human body .It brings
out the essence of a person in multiple dimentions through their bodily
gestures or expressions.
My experience with Boudoir
shoot is phenominal and I totally loved it. It freezes a particular stage of my
life . I understood that how difficult to be a model and to pose spontaneously
. I can still enjoy looking at my own photos and falling in love with my
uniquely designed miraculous body dripping with divine beauty. Whenever I look
at these pictures ,it reminds me of my capacity to be courageous, unconditional
acceptance and love for my body.
If you try wholeheartedly by
knowing the purpose of doing it. I promise you that you’ll keep on thanking
yourself for giving this sweet gift to yourself. Afterall its you and your body
, so own it and celebrate it.
It’s a powerful way to shed
the shame that we subconsciously attached with our natural nude body and shatter
the cultural impositions that this patriarchal society primarily connects with
the women body.
